The Gibran Sculpture Series

This is a colour photo of a fine art bronze sculpture of two hands joined in prayer. They are adult human hands placed palm-to-palm. The heels of the hands are touching lightly and so are the tips of the longest fingers. Each hand is slightly bowed, so that the only contact between them is at the top and the bottom. The photo is taken from the thumb side and the background shows through between the hands in an almost-symmetrical arc. The bronze hands are mounted on a highly-polished rectangualr mount which is a very dark brown granite. The patina finish on the hands is a gentle golden colour, similar to slightly tarnished brass.

Discovering The Prophet, in 1972, was a truly enlightening experience for me. I like to think that my spirituality has been increased and enhanced as a result of having read many of the poems countless times over the last 50 years.

The Prophet is a spiritual work with many powerful messages and the famous book has sold millions of copies worldwide, translated into over 100 languages.

For many religions, hands joined together, palm facing palm,
is a symbol of prayer or supplication.
