As busy as ever…

As busy as ever…

I Wish’ is a work which I like to allow people to make up their own mind about… I would love to hear from anyone reading this blog what their interpretation is?

I made the original work as a small wax model, enlarging to a maquette size which I have cast in bronze as a patinated and also in a polished white bronze.

Here is ‘I Wish’ enlarged in resin prior to casting the work in bronze or perhaps making her in marble in Pietrasanta in Italy.  This is 215cm wide.

A new work…

A new work…

Recently another new work has emerged from my studio.

Originally I called her Florence because she reminded me of the strength and yet love and tenderness shown by Florence Nightingale in the work she undertook in the Crimean War.

But then I began to think that she wasn’t really a Florence after all and so she’s called ‘Emily‘.

A new work… called Emily

Florence - asbtract sculpture in white resin in front of a bush of red roses

She was made first in wax, as a small maquette and then cast in bronze…

Emily - a semi-abstract standing sculpture figure in bronze. Viewed from the left, her body forms an S shape. She has a very long neck and a head reminiscent of Stephen Spielberg's ET.

Emily has now been enlarged in resin, and here she is!  She will be cast in bronze at the Morris Singer Foundry, in Basingstoke, in the near future.
